How Might We Raise Awareness in Our Community about Alzheimer's?
In connection to our #SEEDtheNEED project, (designing flower gardens for ActivCare residents),
students realized they didn't all quite understand Alzheimer’s Disease. Some of our students surveyed the school community and found that many others didn't know much about it either. In order to gain more empathy, share knowledge, and spread awareness of Alzheimer's, K/1 decided to design a walk and invite our D39C community. On June 11th, 2018, over 700 community members joined us in our #MemoriesMatter Walk, from Design39Campus to ActivCare, and back! Catch us on the news at the bottom of this blog! :) A few of the student-designed advertisements:Pins & Forget-Me-Knots
Students also spread awareness by designing pins to wear the day of the walk, and by hosting an event on campus, where community members were able to learn about Alzheimer's and plant a Forget-Me-Not flower.
